Mehmet Tuna, R.T.

As director of the Technical Services section of The Cancer Center's Department of Radiation Oncology, Mehmet Tuna, R.T., oversees the department's radiation therapists, scheduling coordinators and Bergen Community College and Muhlenberg School of Radiotherapy students. Radiation Therapists are highly skilled professionals who work with the radiation oncologists to deliver the precise treatments and dose of radiation to individual patients. The radiation therapists also ensure that the machines used in radiation therapy administer the correct dosage of radiation to the patients.
Mr. Tuna's research interests include investigations into the use of proton/high LET radiotherapy, intensity modulated radiation therapy, image-guided radiotherapy to treat a number of different types of cancer, including prostate cancer, head and neck tumors, and lung tumors. He is a member of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO), American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT), Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) and International Society of Radiographers and Radiologic Technologists (ISRRT).
He is also a publication reviewer for the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.
